About the Airline
India’s third largest airline company, with a market share of 13%, known as Air India (AI), founded by Tata Airlines in 1930, provides (people or goods) an air transport service, on both national and international basis. After World War II, Tata Airlines owned by the government became a public limited company in 1946 and was named as Air India.
The Airline has provided a new method to the country’s flying sector. Its background is alike with the background of public aviation in India. It has about 60 national and 30 international landing places including 20 countries across Asia, North America, Oceania and Europe. It was merged with other Indian Airlines in 2010 and became the 27th member of Star Alliance in 2014.
Its primary hub is located in New Delhi at Indira Gandhi International Airport, whereas secondary hub is located in Mumbai at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The company’s logo is a red colored flying swan, having an orange colored “Konark Chakra” placed inside it.
The Airline, having the cultural characteristics of the Country, has the spirit of warm hospitality and desire to please its passengers by providing them a lot of facilities. It also offers ground handling, maintenance facilities, and low-priced travel options, over its subsidiaries. To take the lead in the competition, Air India’s fleet of 110 aircraft, which include Airbus and Boeing aircraft, are continually modifying and reinventing it. These aircraft are supported by the latest technology, including one-cabin, two-cabin, and three-cabin arrangements.
The passengers can use online check in the facility from 48 hours up to 2 hours before their flight time. Passengers on domestic flights get a boarding pass while International passengers receive a confirmation slip after completing the check-in. The passengers are allowed to carry one bag and one personal item, for example, a laptop or handbag. The passengers can select over the internet a seat at any time before their flight. Domestic passengers are not allowed to be served alcohol and economy class flights of less than 90 minutes are served with snacks.
